Biosurveillance paper in Technometrics (special issue on anomaly detection)

See coverage about this special issue in the latest Amstat News. Although they mention the Feb 2010 issue, it looks like the special issue on Anomaly Detection will only come out in May 2010.

Rescheduled to April 8: Talk at UMD's Statistics group seminar

Inclement weather stepped on the original seminar date, so I will give the talk on "To Explain or To Predict?" at UMD's Math department's statistics group seminar series on Thurs April 8, 15:30-16:30 (Room 1313 Math building).

Rescheduled to April 12: Talk at Department of Measurement, Statistics and Evaluation (UMD)

"To Explain or To Predict?" - Due to the snow storm, the talk that I supposed to present on Monday Feb 8, 2010, has been rescheduled to April 12,  11:30-12:30 @ UMD's department of measurement, statistics and evaluation, as part of their seminar series. Location: 1121 Benjamin Building.

Best 2008 Information Systems Publication Award

My co-authors Ravi Bapna and Wolfgang Jank and I have just been notified that our paper Consumer Surplus in Online Auctions (ISR, 2008) was selected as one of the five best Information Systems papers published in 2008. We're all very excited about the news!
